Animals are Common and Abundant
Promoting Science Based Wildlife Management Decisions for a Better Massachusetts
Not all furbearer species are harvested in every state and province. However, all of the furbearing species that are legally trapped in the Northeast are common and abundant in the area where they live. None are threatened or endangered. Wildlife managers spend a tremdous amount of time and take a lot of care into determing fur harvest seasons in an effort to meet a balance between the needs of the species and people.
