The first 5 personal steps you can take:
#1. Become informed!
Find out what the wildlife management issues that are being worked on through this site , the Joint Committee on Environment and Natural Resources page, the media, and newspapers.
#2. Find out who your Senator and Representatives are! It's ok if you don't know, but find out - it's easy and they want to hear from you! [CLICK HERE] to find out.
#3. Take the time to make a phone call to your Senator and Representative's office! When a Senator or Rep gets 5 or more calls from their constituents on a particular issue, it's considered pressure and a "hot". That's how rare it is!
#4. Take time to WRITE your Senator and Representative e-mail is ok, snail mail is better! Personal letters are taken seriously as long as they are respectful, make sense and get to the point. Our legislators will act differently when they know people are watching them.
#5. Go to public hearings on wildlife management issues when they come up! The Natural Resources Committee members want to here from citizens. This has a tremendous amount of impact when a citizen talks directly to them on an issue that's important to them!
